24 - January

Nazaré Big Wave Day-Tour

On Saturday, January 24, the Portuguese coast is expected to experience one of the most extreme ocean events in recent years. Forecast models show an exceptional swell reaching the Nazaré Canyon at its peak, with giant waves exceeding 25 metres, placing this event among the most powerful ever predicted for the region.

If the forecast holds, this period could become historic for Nazaré, with the potential for some of the biggest waves ever recorded at Praia do Norte, including the long-anticipated possibility of a mythical 100-foot (30-meter) wave. Despite strong winds and rain affecting wave quality, the sheer energy of the ocean makes this a rare and powerful moment to witness.

This is a full-day experience (approximately 8 hours) designed for those who want to observe the raw force of nature up close. In the morning, we travel to Nazaré to watch the giant waves from carefully chosen viewpoints, always prioritising safety and keeping a respectful distance from the sea. Only the most experienced big-wave surfers may attempt to enter the water during brief weather windows.

We’ll spend time in the village and have lunch in Nazaré, before returning south in the afternoon along the Portuguese coastline, following scenic coastal roads and dramatic Atlantic landscapes revealing the wild and exposed character of Portugal’s coast during extreme conditions.

This tour is not about perfect weather.
It’s about being present during a rare natural phenomenon, embracing the power of the ocean, and experiencing a moment that few people ever get to see.

Forecasts may change. Conditions will be monitored closely, and safety will always come first.

Minimum 2 persons for the tour to happen.
